| 1. |
Draw a big triangle. |
| 2. |
At the top write everything you are doing in the next week, month, quarter, year, etc. |
| 3. |
Draw a line under what you are committed to doing. |
| 4. |
Draw a line under what you will attempt to do. |
| 5. |
The remainder will be what you intend to do. |
| 6. |
Circle everything that are you unlikely to be suited for or what will cause you stress; take these items off the triangle if you can give them to someone else to do. |
| 7. |
Circle everything you don't have time or energy to do in the commitment portion, move them to attempt or intent; they are really false commitments. (If you are making a Commitment Triangle for work, you must factor in outside commitments in terms of ability to meet job requirements.) |
| 8. |
Give to your boss or co-workers, (or your spouse children, parents, etc.), have that person do one for your job (role) and identify areas where the commitments are different and make adjustments accordingly. |
| 9. |
As you complete a task, move it out of the triangle and move the remaining items up from attempts and intentions up to commitments and attempts. |
| 10. |
If an item remains an intention indefinitely, look at removing it altogether as tasks should be moving up and out of your commitment triangle. If they are not, they might not belong there. |
