If you’ve flown, you’ve heard it: “place the oxygen mask on yourself first before helping small children or others who may need your assistance.” That phrase has become such a routine part of the pre-flight safety speech that you may not even notice its implications for the rest of your life.
Really.
Just as you can’t properly help another passenger on a plane until you have enough oxygen, you can’t effectively help other people in your life until you are operating at your best.
In other words, success starts with you.
At Kolbe Corp, we believe that true success is the freedom to be yourself. To be successful and to help others on your team or within your organization be successful, you first have to find the freedom to be the most effective version of yourself.
But how? Every single one of us was born with talents – instincts – that help us problem solve and create in a certain way. Once you figure out how it is that you operate when you’re free to be yourself, then you can be an effective team member, manager or business leader.
I mentioned the word “instincts” above on purpose. Just think about it. When you made some of the best decisions in your life, did you follow your gut, or what you thought you should do? Most of the time people tell me their better decisions happened when they “trusted their gut.” Instincts aren’t just some made up feeling – everybody has 4 distinct modes of operating and helping guide their actions — we call it the MO, and we’ve proven that it exists.
If you take the time to tap into your MO, that’s when you find true success. And that’s when you can get to work helping other people put on their oxygen masks.
Our mission at Kolbe is to help people understand and appreciate their own instinctive strengths. Once you do that, you’ll see a boost in your business, your personal well-being, and your relationships.
